General Information:

  • US Size: 6 ⅝ (between a size 6.50 and 6.75, though slightly closer to a 6.50) and sizable by the buyer's preferred jeweler post-purchase.
  • Total Carat Weight: 1.10 ctw
  • Total Precious Metal Weight:  1.63 dwt
  • Precious Metal Material: 14k yellow gold  throughout
  • Dimensions: This ring faces up 4.50 mm north to south x about 17.65 mm east to west (from outer prong to outer prong), and rises about 4.40 mm from the finger. The band tapers from about 1.85 mm at the pinched shoulders to 1.80 mm at the base of the shank.
  • Weight:  2.54 grams
  • Markings:  The interior of the shank is stamped with "14K꘎", which indicates the gold content followed by a symbol denoting the maker.
  • Era:  The five Old Mine Cut diamonds were each cut, faceted and polished by the hand of an artisan at least 150 years ago, circa 1870. It is very possible that these are even older, and could date to any point during the 19th century. The yellow gold prong mounting, however, is more recent, and dates to between the 1960s and 1990s.
  • Buyer Notes: These diamonds are affectionately known in the industry as "salt & pepper" diamonds, described as such because of their natural internal inclusions, which appear like little galaxies within each stone. Please read "The Story" below for the full description of these diamonds, which are historic, animated and boast a unique charm like only antique stones can! Prospective buyers, please keep in mind all of this ring's qualities as you consider a purchase, and keep in mind that because of the diamonds' exceptional freckled nature, this is a great opportunity to acquire a classic Victorian 1+ carat look at a steal of a deal!

The Story:

A staple jewel for every antique jewelry enthusiast, this ring features a spread of five Old Mine Cut diamonds dazzling in warmth and character. These historic gems are mounted within a buttery 14k yellow gold band that dates to the latter half of the 20th century, likely the choice of a former inheritor of this tapered diamond set. Each cushiony diamond has been cleverly set on its axis, so that the plumper cut of these stones is accentuated, giving the face of the ring a decidedly curvy silhouette. The marriage of the antique stones and the more contemporary band offers an updated twist on the classic Edwardian 'boat' ring. It makes for an elegant statement when worn alone, and just as lovely an addition to any ring stack.

Most notably, these diamonds are flecked with internal inclusions, every single one originating to the formation of the stones over billions of years deep within the earth. Included diamonds have come into favor with the market, colloquially dubbed "salt & pepper" diamonds, and much beloved for their individuality. Indeed, each diamond's specks are Mother Nature's fingerprints, left as as proud evidence of their organic roots.

To best understand the dispositions of these inclusions, it is important to note that while these inclusions are not very perceptible (individually) to the naked eye, their presence cause the diamonds to have subtly hazier appearances with warmer undertones. None of the inclusions are distinct, dark black carbon specks, rather, are pinpoints, clouds and needles that are too small to see with the eye. Simply put, these stones' inclusions is more 'salt' and less 'pepper'. Best of all, these celestial inclusions result in the diamonds' wonderful range of warm, honey to silvery colors and do not hinder the diamonds' incredible bursts of sparkle.

Sweeping the finger with hypnotic scintillation, this ring is timeless and versatile, a relic of another era with no less beauty than the day the diamonds were first fashioned.

By placing an order, you accept and agree to uphold Revival Fine Jewelry's terms, conditions and policies.

Regarding All Purchases: All additional 'prop' jewelry boxes, ring boxes, or any other jewelry items pictured alongside the featured listing are for photographic and display purposes only and are not included in the transaction unless explicitly noted in the listing description and/or title. Your order will be carefully packed within a branded Revival Fine Jewelry gift box and will ship in a discreet outer shipping parcel.

Regarding Sale Purchases: Items purchased while on sale and/or sold at specially discounted rates negotiated and agreed upon by Revival Fine Jewelry and a designated consumer are considered final sale. Sale and discounted items are nonreturnable, nonrefundable and ineligible for layaway.

Regarding Brooches & Pins: Often significantly and curiously undervalued jewelry items, brooches, pins and stick pins are treasured pieces of history in this shop. Accordingly, their pricing is calculated analogous to other fine jewelry, including their symbolic meaning, rarity and historical prestige. Such pieces are typically converted to other forms of jewelry, and are therefore becoming increasingly rare in their original states. Aside from being perfectly wearable as sophisticated lapel ornaments, brooches and pins of all kinds are prime candidates for many kinds of fine jewelry conversions, including rings, earrings, pendants, and charms, if so desired by the consumer post-purchase. Revival Fine Jewelry does not perform conversion projects for customers.

Regarding Storage & Boxes: All specifications, including but not limited to the measurements, age, origins, and material compositions are supplied in good faith as professional estimations constructed using professional grade tools, years of learned and honed skills, educational resources and academic scholarship, and refined research methods. Regardless of our confidence in our descriptions and the photographs deemed viable extensions of these descriptions, we cannot guarantee the definitiveness, faultlessness, or exactitude beyond our knowledge and expertise. Kindly keep in mind that this and all items are sold as-is vintage, antique and estate secondhand wares, and consequently bear conditional wear in matter and operation commensurate with age and use.

Layaway is available for full priced, non-sale items priced $600.00 USD or greater, and items may not be combined to attain price-eligibility. Plans are offered as 3-month/90-day maximum terms.

In exchange for offering interest-free plans, customers agree to abide and uphold the following nonnegotiable terms and conditions:

• A 30% non-refundable deposit is due upfront to reserve the item for layaway and pull it from public sale on all of our shopping platforms. Shipping expenses are added to this first payment unless otherwise requested.

• The remaining 70% balance is divided up into three subsequent monthly payments due on the same day of the following three months. If deliquent, a $20.00 USD late fee is added per day to an overdue payment until paid.

In the event that a layaway installment is left unpaid for seven (7) days and no communication is received from the designated customer, the layaway plan will be presumed abandoned. While the item will be returned to public sale, all payments made hitherto are still considered final.

Layaway items are promptly boxed and shipped to the designated customer once the final payment successfully processes. Taxes, import and other legal fees are not calculated into the payments, and are the sole responsibility of the customer, whether a domestic US or international buyer.
