General Information:

  • US Size: Right between a 5.75 and a 6.00
  • Total Carat Weight: 4.125 ct
  • Precious Metal Weight: 2.35 dwt
  • Precious Metal Material: 18k white gold
  • Dimensions: The face of the ring measures a very impressive 15.65 mm north to south (length), 10.0 mm east to west (width) and rises about 6.30 mm from the finger. The shoulders taper from roughly 1.50 mm at the center stone to 2.35 mm around the band and at the base of the shank.
  • Weight: A very nice weight of 3.66 grams
  • Markings: The interior of this ring is marked on one side with 750, indicating this piece’s 75% gold content, which is 18k gold. The other side is marked with a series of letters within a cut-corner horizontally-oriented diamond shaped cartouche. This maker’s mark is partially obscured from decades and decades of loving wear and use, and is therefore difficult to make out for clarity.
  • Era: This engagement ring is believed to date to the earliest years of the 20th century, thought to hail from between 1910-1920. It exhibits the wealth of Edwardian design, as described in the text. Beyond what our years of collecting, dealing, learning and refining our expertise enable us to determine, we cannot ascertain a more precise date range or history than this without knowledge of the piece’s exact provenance.
  • Buyer Notes: Please reference the condition described in the written description, and note that the aquamarine gemstone is a bit loose in the mounting. It will need to be tightened in the setting prior to enjoyment and wear, a very standard service which may be performed by your jeweler post-purchase (most jewelers will offer this free of charge while you wait; some may charge a very nominal service fee). While market comparables place a baseline value of at least $1120 on this ring, the shop’s pricing has been set to transparently consider all described and photographed condition and quality attributes.

Specifications:

  • Center Stone Type: Aquamarine

  • Center Stone Carat Weight: Sold to the shop as 4.40 ct, but comes out to 3.75-4.50 ct by shop calculations (Professionally estimated by formula per the specific gravity of aquamarine)
  • Center Stone Dimensions: 14.85 mm x 9 mm x 5.25 mm (Measured within setting so as to preserve the piece’s integrity)
  • Center Stone Shape: Oval Faceted Cut
  • Center Stone Color: Light Tone with Light to Medium Saturation
  • Center Stone Clarity: Transparent
  • Center Stone Note: Stone is abraded

The Story:

An elegant Edwardian treasure, this antique ring is fabricated in 18k white gold and boasts a beautiful cast mounting. The undergallery steals the show, with a thoughtful balance of scrolling and interlocking curvatures with geometric linearity, creating a symmetrical framework that gracefully frames the aquamarine center stone that centers the ring. This aquamarine is mounted by a set of four double-claw corner prongs, a delicate detail that draws the eye around the oval faceting of the stone and recalls the prong styles popular during the end of the 19th century. The featured stone gives way to reverse tapered shoulders that sweep around the finger on both sides of the mounting, and continue in a continuous width around the base of the shank.

The aquamarine present shows the time-earned marks of generations’ worth of affectionate use, and shows abrasions at the faceting joints. This causes the facets to appear less crisp where they meet across the surface of the stone, due to the texturing that comprises the abrasions. While this characteristic is not  readily apparent when worn, it is visible upon close inspection, under the aid of a jeweler’s loupe and in magnification, as so pictured. While the aquamarine may most certainly be polished and/or re-cut by the new caretaker’s preferred jeweler post-purchase, the price has been set to appropriately reflect the presence of this wear, and also reflects the collector desirability and craftsmanship of the iconically Edwardian mounting.

By placing an order, you accept and agree to uphold Revival Fine Jewelry's terms, conditions and policies.

Regarding All Purchases: All additional 'prop' jewelry boxes, ring boxes, or any other jewelry items pictured alongside the featured listing are for photographic and display purposes only and are not included in the transaction unless explicitly noted in the listing description and/or title. Your order will be carefully packed within a branded Revival Fine Jewelry gift box and will ship in a discreet outer shipping parcel.

Regarding Sale Purchases: Items purchased while on sale and/or sold at specially discounted rates negotiated and agreed upon by Revival Fine Jewelry and a designated consumer are considered final sale. Sale and discounted items are nonreturnable, nonrefundable and ineligible for layaway.

Regarding Brooches & Pins: Often significantly and curiously undervalued jewelry items, brooches, pins and stick pins are treasured pieces of history in this shop. Accordingly, their pricing is calculated analogous to other fine jewelry, including their symbolic meaning, rarity and historical prestige. Such pieces are typically converted to other forms of jewelry, and are therefore becoming increasingly rare in their original states. Aside from being perfectly wearable as sophisticated lapel ornaments, brooches and pins of all kinds are prime candidates for many kinds of fine jewelry conversions, including rings, earrings, pendants, and charms, if so desired by the consumer post-purchase. Revival Fine Jewelry does not perform conversion projects for customers.

Regarding Storage & Boxes: All specifications, including but not limited to the measurements, age, origins, and material compositions are supplied in good faith as professional estimations constructed using professional grade tools, years of learned and honed skills, educational resources and academic scholarship, and refined research methods. Regardless of our confidence in our descriptions and the photographs deemed viable extensions of these descriptions, we cannot guarantee the definitiveness, faultlessness, or exactitude beyond our knowledge and expertise. Kindly keep in mind that this and all items are sold as-is vintage, antique and estate secondhand wares, and consequently bear conditional wear in matter and operation commensurate with age and use.

Layaway is available for full priced, non-sale items priced $600.00 USD or greater, and items may not be combined to attain price-eligibility. Plans are offered as 3-month/90-day maximum terms.

In exchange for offering interest-free plans, customers agree to abide and uphold the following nonnegotiable terms and conditions:

• A 30% non-refundable deposit is due upfront to reserve the item for layaway and pull it from public sale on all of our shopping platforms. Shipping expenses are added to this first payment unless otherwise requested.

• The remaining 70% balance is divided up into three subsequent monthly payments due on the same day of the following three months. If deliquent, a $20.00 USD late fee is added per day to an overdue payment until paid.

In the event that a layaway installment is left unpaid for seven (7) days and no communication is received from the designated customer, the layaway plan will be presumed abandoned. While the item will be returned to public sale, all payments made hitherto are still considered final.

Layaway items are promptly boxed and shipped to the designated customer once the final payment successfully processes. Taxes, import and other legal fees are not calculated into the payments, and are the sole responsibility of the customer, whether a domestic US or international buyer. Revival Fine Jewelry is not responsible for calculating, covering or adding such costs into purchase prices.

All layaway payments as well as all items purchased through layaway plans are considered final sale; neither payments nor items may be refunded, transferred, exchanged or returned. Revival Fine Jewelry does not issue store credit.

Revival Fine Jewelry reserves the right to cancel any layaway plan at any point for any reason if fraudulant activity is suspected. In this event, the designated customer will be notified prior to the intended cancellation of their plan.
