The Story:

Hailing from turn of the century Austria, this stick pin is an artistic creation, crafted by hand and modeled in 14k yellow gold, as stamped. The design feels fluid and feminine, with lines that allude to billowing ribbons, and loosely recalls the shape of a shamrock. Both romance and fortune were common motifs within Art Nouveau designs, and were created using the organicism of nature with contrasting geometries. This piece features these iconic characteristics of the period.

The pin’s head centers a very light baby blue glass stone, made by hand to resemble an aquamarine gemstone. It is a remarkably clear stone, expertly faceted in an old style round brilliant, allowing light to pass through and brightly refract. This synthetic aquamarine glass is mounted in a milgrain bezel, and is flanked on three sides by delicate seed pearls, each bead-set within fan shaped mountings. The top pearl is chipped under one prong, though due to the pearl’s tiny size, is virtually impossible to see with the naked eye. Even so, this characteristic is pictured and reflected in the pricing. This trio of pearls appear to ‘float’ like a halo around the center aquamarine glass, connected by dainty gold tracery.

Below the center glass stone, a sparkly Old European cut diamond is mounted in four cardinal claw prongs. This little diamond is notable in that it is small, but fully cut, and bears the desirably chunky facets that come with the hand-faceting of pre-machine finished stones. As a result, the diamond offers flashes of brilliance in the light, a lovely compliment to the light blue color of the glass stone. Overall, the pin is a cheerful piece, the creamy grays of the pearls, the color of the glass and the fire of the diamond all working together to produce a captivating decorative jewel of the Golden Age.

Adding to this piece’s allure is the rich symbology behind its stones: pearls are believed to protect the wearer against evil and negative energy, and promote healthy relationships. Diamonds represent courage and fortitude, and are believed to speak to the earnestness of affection. Finally, aquamarines are said to be a talisman of luck, instilling fearlessness and providing security. Together, these gems tell an entire story beyond their beauty.

Specially Negotiated Deals: Items purchased at specially negotiated discounts, deals or prices through any platform between Revival Fine Jewelry and a designated customer are considered final sale, including rates arranged and agreed upon via Facebook, Instagram, email or any other method. Closing deals at special rates reflects a desire by both parties to reach an expeditious and absolute sale. The intention of specially negotiated discounts, deals or sale prices through any platform between Revival Fine Jewelry and a designated customer, is to eliminate extra expenses and/or use of time and resources to formally list or re-list items per their specific and inherent value-determining qualities, as well as avoid unseen overhead business costs, stocking obligations, and all other disclosed or undisclosed monetary and nonmonetary expenditures.

Regarding Brooches & Pins: Often significantly and curiously undervalued jewelry items, brooches, pins and stick pins are treasured pieces of history in this shop. Accordingly, their pricing is calculated analogous to other fine jewelry, including their symbolic meaning, rarity and historical prestige. Such pieces are typically converted to other forms of jewelry, and are therefore becoming increasingly rare in their original states. Aside from being perfectly wearable as sophisticated lapel ornaments, brooches and pins of all kinds are prime candidates for many kinds of fine jewelry conversions, including rings, earrings, pendants, and charms, if so desired by the consumer post-purchase. Revival Fine Jewelry does not perform conversion projects for customers.

Regarding Storage & Boxes: All specifications, including but not limited to the measurements, age, origins, and material compositions are supplied in good faith as professional estimations constructed using professional grade tools, years of learned and honed skills, educational resources and academic scholarship, and refined research methods. Regardless of our confidence in our descriptions and the photographs deemed viable extensions of these descriptions, we cannot guarantee the definitiveness, faultlessness, or exactitude beyond our knowledge and expertise. Kindly keep in mind that this and all items are sold as-is vintage, antique and estate secondhand wares, and consequently bear conditional wear in matter and operation commensurate with age and use.
